Eden Rock Hotel has acquired it's friend and neighbor, Filao Beach Hotel. In April 2004, both hotels will close for extensive renovations that will carefully integrate the two properties into one fine establishment. Re-opening will take place during December of 2004.

Situated directly on St. Jean Beach, Filao Beach Hotel is a lovely, small hotel of French and Creole flavor. The property is shaped as a half moon, featuring rooms with views of the sea or gardens. A nice sized pool and deck area extend out to the beach where water sports are available. The poolside bar and restaurant, specializing in French and Creole delights, share views of the pool and sea.

The accommodations are somewhat small but fresh, clean and comfortable. We visited a deluxe beachside room with a view of the gardens and pool area. It was equipped with air-conditioning, ceiling fans, 2 direct-dial phones, a television, mini bar, and safe deposit box. Decorated in tropical florals, marble and rattan furnishings and tiled floors. Sliding glass doors open onto a wood deck that leads out toward the garden. The bath is equipped with a shower/bath, hair dryer and a make-up mirror. Large closets with complimentary guest robes is a plus.

Nice accommodations possibly a bit lacking in amenities that you might expect from a Caribbean beach resort, but if that doesn't bother you, you'll enjoy Filao Beach and its' charming French ambiance.
